52 Pick Up Play Runs July 11-14
New Vintage Theatre Company invites the community to join them for the inventive romantic comedy, 52 Pick Up by Rita Bozi and T.J. Dawe. After one fiery year together a couple puts 52 scenes about their relationship on playing cards and throws them into the audience. Throughout the course of the play each card is picked up, a scene enacted, and the audience sees just what happened between the young lovers.
Starring Lyndon Blacklaws (Cabaret, The Mousetrap) and film actress Emily Mayzes,
and designed by Jaeden Walton, the show is one of director Bonnie Gratz' favourites.
"This Canadian show has been a hit at theatre companies throughout North America since it opened in the 90's. I was lucky to see it the first time it was done and it stuck with me as one of my favourite plays I have ever seen. New Vintage Theatre mounted it once before in 2018, and this production is uniquely its own, with talented young artists involved that are sure to charm audiences and make them laugh, even cry," says Gratz.
The performances are different each night and included in the ticket price is a drink and pre-show fortune telling, both of which are important aspects of what happens with the couple.
